A total of 30 groups of contestants finally succeeded in advancing to this semi-final after rounds of competitions from the audition and regional contest to the quarter-final.

Prior to the start of the competition, LVTC Communist Youth League Committee specially added a round of contest of challengers for students who missed registration in auditions. The above 30 groups of contestants who had already advanced to the semi-final worked as the judges of this round of contest and raised their placards to decide whether the contestants were qualified to make it to the next round. After intense competitions, four contestants were recognized by two-thirds of the judges and advanced directly to the semi-final to compete with the 30 groups of contestants for the qualification in the final round of 15.

On the evening of the contest, the street dance crew of the college student art troupe took a lead to be up on the stage, cheering up the whole stage for an instant. Subsequently, 34 groups of contestants came on the stage one after another to sing their songs. Li Meili, a contestant advanced from the contest of challengers, sang a song named Sun Will Never Set, which became the curtain-raiser of the competition; Shao Huaijia, another qualifier of the contest, expressed her deep emotion in the song People Like Me which won her a ticket to the finals; No. 1 contestant Wu Zhenyu and Zhang Zhen performed a wonderful song with distinctive characteristics of Dong ethnic group; No. 3 contestant Li Yanhai, with a band invited, gave a performance New Boy, lighting up the on-site atmosphere; No. 5 contestant gave a refreshing rap show So Easy to the audience and judges, driving the competition to a little climax; No. 18 contestant Liang Chenmeijing bent choreography into their song Red Rose, which made the performance much more wonderful and attracted the students on the site to whop with delight; No. 21 contestant Yin Shaoke conveyed the singer's attitude of struggling to live differently in the song It's Life, winning rounds of thunderous applause; and the first prize of the semi-final came to No. 22 contestant Zhou Hao for the performance Jiang Nan with his affectionate and mild voice.

All students were extremely excited with the waves of climaxes. Party History Quiz, Guess the Name of Songs, Revolutionary Songs Relay and other interactive parts were also carried out in order to welcome in delight the centenary of the establishment of the Communist Party of China and enhance students’ sense of participation. During their active participation in the competitions of answering the questions about Party history and guessing the name of songs, the students got an extremely high accuracy rate; and in the aspect of revolutionary songs relay, the audience performed so amazingly that people got a feeling of "masters hidden in the folk".

Following the semi-final, all contestants who advanced to the next round also took part into the "Live-streaming Sales by Music Hosts" in groups to recommend and sell river snail rice noodles and other agricultural products from designated villages that the college supported by means of singing or performance, so as to play as a demonstration role as campus backbones of literary and arts and give supports to industrial development and rural vitalization. The great performance attracted more than 1,000 spectators with its well-prepared equipment, large-scale venue and high-quality performances. In addition to the on-site audience, many students in dormitory buildings were also attracted to enjoy the show, which effectively enriched the after-class life for the students in Guantang Campus and improved, in some way, the capabilities of art cultivation and appreciation of all students in the college. In addition, the activity also provided a platform for student fans of music to present themselves and display their love for the Party, the nation and the college as well as their upward spiritual outlook, promoting the students' personality development and reinforcing aesthetic education in the college.

The final will be held in Shewan Campus of the college in early June.
